 Candlelight Ski/Hike
Saturday, February 2, 2019. 5:30-8:30 pm. Sponsored by Friends of the Kettle Moraine Cross-country ski or hike in the Kettle Moraine State Forest-Northern Unit by candlelight. At the bonfire join fellow hikers and skiers for hot drinks and snacks provided by the Friends of the Kettle Moraine. The trail is perfect for novice skiers with no steep hills or sharp turns. The Zillmer shelter building will be open, lit, and heated. Saturday, February 2, 2019. 5:30-8:30 pm. Sponsored by Friends of the Kettle Moraine Look through a telescope or binoculars to bring into focus the wonders of the night sky. With the help of knowledgeable night sky observers from the Northern Cross Science Foundation, spy distant planets, dumb-bell nebulas, globular clusters, and so much more. The program will be held only if the skies are clear. This program is best for anyone more than 8 years old. Drop in any time and stay as long as you like.  Aerial Insectivores of Wisconsin Evening with Nature Program
Thursday, March 14, 2019. 7-8:30 pm. Presenter: William Mueller, Director, Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Observatory Mueller will provide a view into the world of "aerial insectivores," the birds that capture their insect prey in flight, by exploring their ecology, population changes, and conservation. This group of birds is experiencing major population declines. He'll discuss the factors involved, and how citizens can respond.  Earth Week Litter Pick Up
Saturday, April 27, 2019. 8:30 am-12 pm. Sponsored by the Friends of the Kettle Moraine Help give the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive and other forest locations a spring cleaning. Join others for a morning of camaraderie and litter pick up. Youth and other groups are encouraged to participate. Bring your own gloves. Garbage bags will be provided. Meet at the Forest Headquarters to get your road or area assignment. After cleaning up, return to the Headquarters for snacks and refreshments. To register groups, call (262) 626-2116.
